Named after the traditional hunting spear of the South African Zulu people, the MAXXIS Assegai with its aggressive profile drills into a wide variety of terrain. Many years of experience in MTB racing and decades of expertise in tyre development have gone into the development of the MTB tyre.
The open tread design combines pronounced centre and side knobs to support traction while braking, in berms and on loose, wet and technical trails. Thanks to the balanced tread pattern, the tyre offers predictable handling on hardpack, loose surfaces and in mud.
In this version, the Assegai combines the reinforced EXO+ Protection with the further developed MaxxTerra rubber compound for demanding all-mountain and enduro use. The robust construction is designed for increased puncture protection and additional stability, whilst the rubber compound offers high grip, efficient rolling behaviour and optimised mileage.
Technologies:
• EXO+ PROTECTION
EXO+ Protection is based on a 60-TPI casing with an abrasion-resistant rubber coating. The construction is complemented by a reinforced EXO protective layer on the sidewalls and an additional butyl insert above the tyre bead. As a result, the construction is designed for aggressive trail riding, enduro use and the requirements of modern E-MTBs.
• MaxxTerra
MaxxTerra is a single-compound rubber compound from MAXXIS for trail and enduro use. The consistent development of the proven 3C MaxxTerra compound is intended to offer more grip and a longer tread life while maintaining low rolling resistance. The compound thus combines efficient rolling behaviour with high traction on the trail.
• TUBELESS READY [TR]
In the MAXXIS range, Tubeless Ready [TR] refers to tyres with a construction that is designed for tubeless use with a sealant, a compatible tubeless rim or matching rim tape. The system enables lower air pressures and is intended to improve traction and ride quality, while reducing the rolling resistance. In addition, minor damages can be sealed directly by the sealant, which reduces the risk of breakdowns.
